Welcome!

Welcome to this blog.  You will find some insights into the life of social science researchers and their activities.

The topics should give you a basic idea about the elements of social science research, whether you are studying for a Msc or PhD degree.

Here there are the basic elements of a research project (dissertation, thesis):

So in basic terms, we do research to give answers to important questions.  Reading the literature helps us to refine our questions, design a research methodology (process) for our project and interpret data.  We collect data in order to confirm existing ideas from theories or discover new ones through our analysis. This process gives rise to new questions, and so we start again!

I will talk in more detail about these and other aspects in the next blog entries. I do not claim to be an expert but just someone who has done research in the social sciences for a number of years.

The blog offers my own views, so please consider it as an introductory resource to your research.  I hope that the information also leaves some questions to you in your journey as a researcher.

Enjoy and good luck with your research!
